That title may sound backward but it is not. The warning comes
because of what happened to my computer.
When I closed down, last night, I was unable to do my usual
night time cleaning of potential malware. That was not a good sign in my book of computer maintenance.
Up early. Turn the computer back on. And run my cleaners. The
critical scans for infections came back clean. My malware tests
showed none around. It will clean up the nuisance problems that
a bigger cleaning by my premium security program might miss.
Malwarebytes is my favorite interim daily cleaner why? It scans
all the places malware is known to hide, including memory,
startup, registry and filesystem objects.l I heartily recommend
running Malwarebytes as at least one of your daily scans. There
is nothing like being sure PUPs – potentially unwanted programs
do not find a home on your computer.
Full, premium paid security is after Trojans and malware too but
to be on the safe side, I run them all. Performance issues are my
favorite scan of the big security. It puts things back place. Things
like getting rid of junk files, unnecessary applications. and those
system settings I might mess up with daily use.
One other little treat my security provides is it tells me if a site is
safe and if my sites are safe. If not, it will automatically block them
and give me a record of its actions so that I may allow that site to
be blocked or I can mark it as a false positive.
There are a lot of cleaners out there that you can choose from.
However, there is the need for thoroughly checking out what they
actually do. Smart users make sure they understand the cleaners,
check the settings, make sure places like the registry are not invaded
and stripped of vital files. With any cleaner or security program, you
need to be fully aware of its capabilities and set it to work for your
protection accordingly.
Computer off at night Or left running
I’m of the old-school. Older than methuselah and taught to play it
safe with valuable assets like computers.
I know the argument for not shutting it down. I too have a large
Hard Drive. However, I use backupS daily to externals. Thus my
hard drive should be clean of infection potential OR if it is not,
it won’t affect what is on that drive.
And every piece of material that is put on the external is also
given a security test as clean.
Why All This Protective Security Concern?
1. MY work, MY computer is an expensive piece of machinery. I
expect it to perform at maximum.
2. My work is important and will be shared with other people. I
need to know my files and posts are free of any harm that can be
passed on.
3. Other net users are not so savvy. They are not properly protected.
Thus should I venture into their territory, I open my machine and
my files to danger.
Should I run into a bad site, while surfing, my system will block it
and recommends I run a particular scan to make sure there is no
infection that made it into my computer where it can create
problems.
In 15 years of being online, I have run into THREE needs only to
take my computer to the tech shop. Not one of them turned out to
be malware, just the concerned owner who did not like the finds
my cleaning tests provided.
My strongest recommendations:
Superantispyware cleaner – no conflicts with operating systems.
MalwareBytes – a must! First line of defence in tech shops.
Avast premium security.
The best way you and I can stay safe on the net is to make sure we
take the proper precautions to be a safe user. That way, we can feel
assured our computer stays working its best for us.
