Welcome to the world of Traffic Exchanges. Most tours of this new idea
called a Traffic Exchange will begin with something like ‘Getting started.
There are a few good reasons for reading this particular area. It is not
only familiarization but warnings about some serious part of a menu
entry called your profile. There might also be references to why your
account could face immediate suspension. IF it is in RED, read it!
The steps to getting started, are pretty much the same in all Traffic
Exchanges (TEs)
– Fill in your profile. Make sure all information is correct.
– Use a real first and last name. This is the first place that will determine
if your account gets suspended or moves you into the system. The
second place is if your IP address and country do not match. If there
is a good reason, make an explanation your first support ticket.
-Don’t forget to add your payment processor. So necessary if you want
to get paid.
Some TEs offer several choices of payment processor but only give
you a choice of one in your profile. Perhaps that is one gray area that
needs to be updated?
Good active affiliates need to file income tax as well as a business owner
must. Thus using one processor for income in and another for various
purchases – income out, makes the end of the year tax time easier.
There is also the comparison of traffic between programs that good
bookkeeping habits can cut down on losses and increase income.
2. Getting Started
Front or home pages can be loaded with lots of information that will
make your stay memorable. Much of it can be confusing if you are
new. While owners and many affiliates are old hands on how to use
TEs, there is a tendency to forget the new person is paying their first
visit and need clearly stated steps for familiarization.
Do you have to take the OTO offers? OTO stands for One Time Offer.
In spite of the fact, you are only supposed to see it one time thus must
decide right then to take it, the average OTO shows up for days.
Most offers are for upgrades or ad view offers. Impressions are
needed to get your promo ads seen. Taking them right away will
probably depend on how familiar you are with TEs, and what it is
offered and if you are ready to use it.
Their most important value, is they provide income for the TE.
In turn, they can supply commissions to you if your new person
chooses to take one.
Visit the Affiliate Toolbox.
The Affiliate Toolbox will contain your referral link – It looks similar
to this http://NAMETE.com/?rid=your name or number.
Or the new concept, the promo wall links. One link that acts much like
a rotator with one or more pages that rotate by the surf click. The job
of the promo wall is to promote the TE. Read to see how you can benefit
from using this link in your promotions.
Each TE is a tad different in what they offer. You may find loads of
– splash pages – company pages to advertise the TE.
–squeeze pages – where new members sign up to your Autoresponder.
– Regular 468 x 60 banners
– Square banners 125x 125 miniatures of the regular banners
– Text ads – an engaging line to attract the click.
– different emails to send out to new affiliates or to attract new members.
From all this great offering of tools, you need to choose a site- splash or
squeeze page, preferably a regular and square banner and create a text
link for each promotion.
Tough lesson #1
Simply using a splash or lead capture page is all you need. Hardly.
Your page is one of hundreds in rotation. It will not be seen often
enough on its own to bring in many subscribers even if it is flashy,
and engaging, and makes you take that second look.
Support your pages with both size banners and text links that appear
on every site page thus increasing the number of times your offer
will be viewed. Keep YOUR promotions in front of the viewer as
often as you can thus increasing your conversions ratios by at least
300%,
By testing the above, you are setting up the start of your first campaign.
Use the links in the navigation menu to show you how to install each of
the Affiliate Toolbox items.
One very important thing appears to be left out of getting started and
that is NOW taking the time to read the TOS – Terms of Agreement –
you glossed over and checked when you joined.
Tough lesson #2
Break the TOS and your account is suspended. There are rules for
advertising online and knowing the limitations provided in a good TOS
will keep your promotions legal. Improper use of the TOS items can
threaten the very existence of the TE. Do not be guilty of such an
offense.
By being an informed user who follows the rules, by getting started the
right way, you increase the value of the TE you chose to join. That
means more viewers who will be happy to join you as they see how
excited you are about membership and the increase in traffic that
happens with every active member.
After all is said and done, TEs are all about supplying traffic through
good advertising.

promotions. If this post will help you with a new subscriber, feel
